Who we are
Paul Dunn (MChiro) is our Clinic Director and General Chiropractic Council (GCC)-registered chiropractor. Paul is a graduate of McTimoney College of Chiropractic, and has a clinical interest in postural health, biomechanics and functional movement.
With over 20 years of personal experience benefiting from regular chiropractic care, Paul understands the value of proactive, precise treatment. His approach centres on improving pelvic stability, restoring spinal function, and enhancing movement quality to support long-term resilience as well as pain relief.
He has a particular interest in postural health and the influence of the feet and lower limbs on whole-body mechanics. By addressing foundational stability and coordinated movement patterns, he helps patients move with greater ease, confidence, and durability.
Paul brings a unique perspective through his background in music and movement education. He holds a Master’s degree in Musical Performance and has studied the Alexander Technique since 1995. He has a special interest in supporting musicians, helping them remain comfortable and pain-free during practice and performance.
He is a member of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association (MCA) and the Sacro-Occipital Technique Organisation Europe (SOTO) .
Outside the clinic, Paul enjoys playing the piano, practising yoga, training at the gym, and vegetable gardening.
He lives near Wells with his partner and young son, and has an adult daughter studying at the University of Oxford.

What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession that focuses on the relationship between the skeletal and nervous systems. Chiropractors pay particular attention to the neuro-musculo-skeletal system (nerves, muscles, bones and joints).
Chiropractic uses different techniques to achieve optimum results and recognises that your body has an ability to heal and detoxify. This healing ability is co-ordinated by your nervous system: the brain and spinal cord, together with all the nerves that connect the spinal cord to every single cell in your body.
Treatment consists of joint and soft tissue manipulation, and manual adjustments. chiropractic emphasises the role of preventative care, helping to ensure that minor problems do not become major ones.
What can chiropractic help with?
Aches, pains, strains in any part of the musculoskeletal system. Problems incurred during sports injuries. Sciatica, disc problems, and tendinitis. Headaches, muscle cramps, wear and tear conditions such as arthritis, (through improving biomechanics).
In addition we can help with injury rehabilitation, postural education, and core and foot strengthening.
What techniques do you use?
At Bio-Balance we use a range of techniques including Diversified, Sacro-occipital and McTimoney.
Treatments will be tailored to suit your clinical needs.
Diversified Chiropractic is a range of techniques that most would understand to be traditional chiropractic. The much remarked click or crunch may arise when a joint is ‘gapped’, but this not the aim of the adjustment, rather, the intention is to restore biomechanics and improve function.
Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) is a technique with a detailed scientific underpinning. It is ‘low force’ and frequently involves placing wedges or blocks under the pelvis to assist with restoring balance to the body.
McTimoney Chiropractic is a gentle whole body technique. Its results are achieved through speed and precision. It is particularly suitable when someone is in acute pain, if they are very old and young, or have a more complex medical history.
Afferentology is a technique we may use to assist in diagnosing a functional weakness. This involves testing the strength (or weakness) of muscles during various movements to help understand the origin of a problem.
Sports massage Soft tissue techniques will be used to release muscle fibres where appropriate.
Foot strengthening: Our feet play a massive part in every activity we do, but they are often overlooked or even mistreated which can lead to weakness, pain or even disfigurement such as bunions. It may be appropriate to help you to improve foot strength which in turn may improve balance, reduce the risk of falls, and even reduce knee, hip or back pain.
